Fourth quarter review

…Reed Doughty has been playing more as the primary strong safety since the last drive of the third quarter and the first drive of the fourth. Chris Horton came in as the No. 3 safety on the first drive of the fourth quarter. Not sure what to read into that. That trend has continued deep into the final quarter.

…Albert Haynesworth’s offsides penalty in the fourth quarter on a third and eight really stung. The Redskins held them on the next play, but it gave Lawrence Tynes a 45-yard kick instead of a 50-yarder. Makes a difference.

…Jason Campbell does not look comfortable in the pocket. He missed Santana Moss on a pivotal third and five because he threw behind him. He has not played as freely as he did the last two preseason games. He could be feeling the Giants’ pressure; that’s how it looks.

…The secondary has just had a bad game overall. DeAngelo Hall whiffed on a jam attempt and then gave up a 26-yard pass to Steve Smith. Hall also came up when it looked like Eli Manning was going to run and then watched Manning dump a pass over his head for a 28-yard completion.

…For a team that led the league in three-and-outs last year, the Redskins have done a poor job of forcing punts today. The Giants have done a great job of controlling the clock.

…This game is more disappointing than last year’s opener. The Redskins had excuses last year; they have none now.

…Think that last touchdown didn’t matter? The line was 6.5 points.
