Everywhere you look it seems a Chamberlin is making a big play for Yorktown’s boys lacrosse team. No, opponents aren’t seeing things. There really are three of them contributing to the best start in program history.
Juniors Milt, Brad and Clay Chamberlin are triplets who have helped Yorktown to a 7-0 record entering this week’s spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. for two games at Disney World against teams from Ohio.
Clay Chamberlin is a returning starter at attack, where he is second on the Patriots with 14 goals and also has five assists. Brad Chamberlin has 93 saves as Yorktown’s starting goalie. And Milt Chamberlin is a second-line midfielder who has three assists, eight ground balls and has won 10 of 22 faceoffs.
“The most interesting thing about these kids is they are three completely different personalities and they’re helping us at three distinct positions on the field,” said first-year Yorktown coach Greg Beer. “Each one brings something unique to the table.”
The Patriots have been runners-up in the National District tournament the last two years, but have outscored their three district opponents this season 37-4, including an 8-0 shutout of six-time defending champion Mount Vernon (1-6) on April 4.
