Looks like political photo ops with children may be a thing of the past, according to one 10-year-old.
The liberal Campaign for America’s Future posted a video on its Web site of a 10-year-old threatening to put an end to all political photo ops unless House members override President Bush’s veto of the children’s health insurance bill, commonly referred to as SCHIP.
“I know you like us kids,” the boy says. “But if you want to keep us hanging out for the cameras, you need to protect us, not the president. … No health care for us, no photo ops for you.”
According to The Associated Press, House Democrats plan to approve a similar children’s health care bill this week and are practically daring the president to veto it again.
Toby Chaudhuri, director of communications for CAF, told Yeas & Nays: “Millions of children without health care don’t have much to smile about for the cameras. Neither will conservatives when their parents head to the polls next year. It broke children’s hearts, and it’ll take more than just health care to mend those wounds.”
