Everyone remembers their first, right?

Daughtry Dunno

American Idol” rock star Chris Daughtry is out with a new single, a cover of Foreigner’s “Feels Like The First Time” that serves as the theme song for CNN’s League of First Time Voters initiative. Only problem? Daughtry doesn’t seem to recall his own first voting experience.

When Yeas & Nays asked Daughtry just that before his performance at the “Grammy’s Rock the Conventions” concert Tuesday night, we got the following gargled response: “Uh…let’s see…first election…um…[makes noises]…It’s been a long time… I’m getting old…I can’t remember actually…I remember voting…[Turning to a band mate to help get him out of a jam]… Do you remember your first election?”

But that’s okay: Daughtry says his own personal experience and politics are besides the point. “I think we could tell you all day long who we’re supporting but it really wouldn’t matter. … Find out who you believe in not because of what a celebrity says.”

Everclear and Flobot also performed at this concert, which say such notables as Rep. Linda Sanchez, Herbie Hancock, Sen. Byron Dorgan and Grammy Board Member (and legendary producer/songwriter) Jimmy Jam in the audience.

When we asked Jimmy if the Republican Convention in Minnesota (his home state) would be as fun as this one in Denver, he gave us a sarcastic grin and said, “We’ll see…”
