…If the Redskins are being honest with themselves, they cut Mike Williams. He hasn’t shown enough to win a spot. But that probably won’t happen. In his limited time tonight, he’s been beaten four times to allow a sack or pressure. Think about that. Yes, there’s rust. But how much of it is rust?
…I love how easy Chase Daniel throws the ball on the short stuff. He gets the ball, makes the read and unloads with a nice easy delivery. But I still don’t think he’d ever be anything more than a No. 3 QB.
…Still, he did a nice job with more pressure on one third down play where he was pinched, snuck out of the pocket, using his shoulders well to reset and kept his eyes downfield. When nothing was there, he ran and dove for the first down.
…The second line stinks. Chad Rinehart got knocked down again.
…Eddie Williams is not ready to be a lead blocker in the NFL. No shame in that. But he’s just not ready.
…D.J. Hackett has no speed at all and made no attempt to fool the DB on his post. Daniel did not make a good throw, but Hackett wasn’t open. Also, Hackett had a weak block attempt on the first play of the third quarter. A decent block and it’s a double-digit run.
…See what I mean about Justin Tryon? Doing better. But it helps when the receiver doesn’t look for the ball and is running a different play.
…Robert Henson is having a tough quarter. He missed a tackle after Cody Glenn did a great job forcing the back wide by aggressively taking on a block in the hole. Then he committed a 15-yard penalty on Tryon’s runback. Not helping himself at all.
…Can’t believe how fast Jeremy Jarmon was in on the run where he nearly dropped the back for a five-yard loss. Lendy Holmes was there to clean up the miss for a two-yard loss.
…Colt Brennan did not have a great drive thanks to his line – Edwin Williams had a false start to put them in second and 13 – but he did make the right decisions on his throws. He did not force anything to take them out of field goal range or ruin a scoring chance. But he threw wide to Hackett partly, it seemed, because of his arm angle on the play. When he’s throwing to the outside and does so sidearm, it seems to take it wider.
…Shaun Suisham probably just locked down his job. Talk about a pressure kick.
…Darrel Young had a chance to make a play on the kick return, but missed.
…Henson sure is involved in a lot of plays, both good and bad. He made a couple nice plays on the first defensive series, one in the backfield. But he then missed two tackles.
