When it comes to the draft, despite seemingly endless talk already we still have a ways to go. Don’t forget: The scouting combine is the first chance teams really have to interview players (they get 15 minutes). And they can still have them in for private workouts.
Point being: There’s a long way to go.
But among our chatter in the email report:
… Thoughts on Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden and why some say he’d be a good fit for Washington. “I really think he’s on the Redskins radar,” ex-NFL scout Russ Lande said. “I like him a lot. I know people close to Bruce Allen that like him a lot. He fits what the Redskins like, which is tall, athletic and a big arm.” So add him to the list of options.
…There’s one highly-rated offensive tackle (Riley Reiff) that some say may be way overrated.
…John Beck on what matters for a QB when it comes to throwing at the combine. Accuracy isn’t necessarily the goal.
…Have a couple corners who could be good choices in the middle rounds.
…One scout’s take on Peyton Manning to the Redskins. Hint: He’s not sold on the idea.
…Brock Osweiler? No thanks. “I haven’t heard a scout yet who has really been impressed with him,” one NFL source said.
