Studs and Duds

Winners and losers from today’s morning workout:

Studs

QB Chase Daniel. He tweeted — twittered? — to let everyone know he had a good practice, and he did. Just accurate and decisive. He remains a very long shot to win a spot, but he recovered from a tough opening day.

LB Alfred Fincher. In all honesty, it’s sometimes hard to know how well the linebackers do because you need to know what they’re being asked to do. However, he did have one of the plays of the day. On a Jason Campbell pass to Chris Cooley, Fincher, already with tight coverage, tipped the ball, tipped it again and then again and finally grabbed it out of the air. A nice play.

WR Devin Thomas. He’s really looking better in practice compared to last year. Today, for example, he put on a double move vs. Carlos Rogers (cynics are saying: who hasn’t?), cutting inside and then back out. Fortunately for Rogers, Campbell tucked the ball and ran the other way. But Thomas’ move was worth noting. By the way, Rogers’ reaction: ”Oh, [bleep]!”

DT Albert Haynesworth. Just because. He abused Derrick Dockery on a couple plays.

Duds

LT Jeremy Bridges. A standby on this list. Once again: he’s a guard.

LT Chris Samuels. He’s really not a dud, but for the second straight day he jumped on the first play of 11-on-11 work. Other than that, he’s mostly been flawless. On the positive side, with the weight loss, he’s jumping offsides much quicker.

DE Renaldo Wynn. Like Fincher, it was based on one play. But Wynn got buried by RT Stephon Heyer on one run around the end.
