Donovan McNabb
On the delay of game at the 2-yard line before halftime: “They started the clock early. They communication between me and Kyle [Shanahan] is cut off at 15 [seconds]. We all thought they would at least push the clock up. They started the clock early. We just took a timeout so you obviously can’t go back-to-back with timeouts.”
On if he split more reps with Rex Grossman this week: “It was pretty much split up the way we’ve had it. Nothing different, I don’t think.”
Hunter Smith
On the botched hold: “What happened is my fault. I have to catch the ball and put it down. It doesn’t matter if the snap is high, it doesn’t matter if it’s low, it doesn’t matter where it is. It’s just the kind of thing that happens. I’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve caught a lot of high snaps. I’ve caught a lot of snaps in the rain and I dropped this one and we lost the game.”
Graham Gano
On his misses: “I’ve never had that bad of a game in my life. It’s pretty frustrating.”
More: “I thought they were good both times – they felt good off my foot and normally, I can tell if it’s not a good kick so when I looked up on both, I was shocked.”
Nick Sundberg
On the extra point snap: “I think it was a little higher than I wanted it to be. The conditions and everything don’t help Hunter in that situation but unfortunately, it was a little higher than I wanted it to be….Today was particularly wet but we all have to fight through those things.”
Santana Moss
On another close loss: “I’ve been wishing for so long to where I’m just going to keep on wishing. I just hope, man, something good come out of this, whether it’s this year or down the road. I feel like we’re too good right now as a team to settle for what we settle for week in and week out. True and all, we played a good team, and you got to tip your hat off to them, but it’s a lot of games that I’ve seen us just lose the game, and this year been to me more than any year, but when it all adds up, it just don’t make no sense. I just hope as a team we can just pull it through. We got three games left, and I mean, for sure I’m going to go out there and play my heart out every week, but something got to come out of this, you know?”
Brian Orakpo
On the non-holding call: “He was looking downfield. That’s exactly what [back judge Rob Vernatchi] told me…You have back judges for a reason. For him to tell me he wasn’t looking, that he’s looking downfield… We have downfield judges for that.”
On if he saw an image of the play on paper: “Yeah, I saw the image. It’s clear as day. It was ridiculous. That was one of the most blatant [holds], almost like Dallas. … I was held around the neck.”
Mike Shanahan
On the Orakpo play: “He wasn’t held, he was mugged.”
On trying out new kickers: “No, and I am not ready to talk about that anyhow. It was a tough game today. Everybody is disappointed. He has been very consistent for us in practice. He is young and he has a great future.”
On McNabb’s final drive: “He was good. We needed it. We made some plays when we had to make them. It was nice to get the ball in the end zone for the last drive.”
Casey Rabach
On the difference in the run game today: “We blocked them and we ran very far… All 11 guys really came together today and everybody bought into the system. It paid huge dividends for us.”
Chris Wilson
On his fumble: “It was a little wet out there so I tried to grab it and get upfield and get as much as I could. I didn’t quite get it. I thought I had more time than what I had…I have to keep the ball secure and I failed to do that.”
DeAngelo Hall
On missed opportunities: “We didn’t make the plays we needed to. We didn’t get off the field when we needed to. I didn’t catch the pick I would have probably took to the house. Gave up a deep ball. There’s plays that’s out there that’s routine plays that we normally make that we didn’t make. It’s execution. Sometimes it feels like you’re cursed a little bit, but that’s definitely not the case. The football gods ain’t cursing us right now. We’re just not executing some plays that’s supposed to be routine.”
On the deep ball to Arrelious Benn: “I got a little lazy on a deep ball. Thought it was the smoke route. …I kind of coasted. Receiver ran right past me.”
