Greyhounds ready for Cardinals

Gilman may have lost seven of its first nine league games, but the Greyhounds control their own destiny when it comes to the MIAA A Conference finals.

Gilman (13-9) will claim its first league title since 1996 if it beats Calvert Hall (24-8) at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ripken Stadium. Since the Cardinals advanced through the losers? bracket, it must beat the Greyhounds twice. The second game, if necessary, will be played Thursday afternoon.

The Cardinals will need pitching similar to Robert Hendry?s one-hitter over Spalding Monday if they hope to defeat a Greyhound team that beat Loyola, 18-9; Mount St. Joseph ,6-5; and Spalding, 12-2 to reach the finals.
