Capitals defenseman Mike Green has now missed 10 of the last 11 games dating to the right ankle injury he suffered Oct. 22 against the Detroit Red Wings. He returned Nov. 11 against the New Jersey Devils and lasted into the second period before a hit by Ryan Carter sent him back onto injured reserve with a right groin injury.
And it doesn’t sound like Green will be back anytime soon. He hasn’t skated since that Devils game. Saw him briefly in sweats and a t-shirt watching practice from the Caps’ bench at Kettler Iceplex on Sunday. Sure looked like he came directly from an off-ice workout. His condition? Still day-to-day. But the optimism wasn’t exactly flowing freely.
“Hasn’t worsened,” Washington coach Bruce Boudreau said. “But it hasn’t improved at the rate that we would have liked it to improve. We’re hoping that he skates at some point this week.”
