McNabb: I want to be here

More from Donovan McNabb on his weekly paid radio appearance on ESPN 980 (and here’s Part I, where he talks about being disrepsected):

On if he thinks there’s any chance he returns: “I definitely hope so and I expressed that. I don’t want to go anywhere. I love the fans in the Northern Virginia, DC area; the DMV. I’ve enjoyed myself here. We can do good things here. I thank the fans for all the support. Now, as far as the future is concerned I was told they’d  be evaluating everyone. They want to get guys in here to help the team and so on and so on. But as far as the guarantee is concerned, I wasn’t looking for a guarantee. I was looking for thoughts and none of that was truly expressed.”

On if there’s a divide with he and Kyle Shanahan: “I thought we had a pretty decent relationship, one that was growing and I still feel somewhat that way. Everyone will dig into some part of it where it’s coming from and whose saying this. Sometimes when you hear sources get out and talk or people talk on radio or TV, they got it from someone. A lot of times… I’ve heard where it’s come from. I’ve heard their thoughts and so believe me I know where some of this stuff is coming from.”

On where it’s coming from: “I’ll keep it to myself.”

On if he’s heard from the owner: “I haven’t heard from anyone really. I haven’t heard from the owner. I haven’t heard from the GM.”

On if he’d want to be traded or released: “No, I want to be here.”

On why he wants to be here: “I don’t believe in starting something and not finishing it. I’ve always said I feel like our core here of guys that we have that we can do things with. Offensively, although it’s the highest interceptions I’ve thrown, there’s definitely ways of throwing that down. Offensively, when you look at where we were… there’s a lot of yards and points that we can get back. That would be from everyone growing and adding more pieces.

“I want everyone to understand that I do want to be back here. I look for good things to happen. I know some people are upset and have been trying to figure out what’s going on…. I’m not giving up on [the fans] and I don’t want them to give up on me.”

On what’s next for him: “Finish the season out strong. Continue to work and be in this offense learning and getting comfortable and see what happens.”

On if Shanahan has apologized for how it was handled: “Well, I haven’t really seen him too much. I’m not looking for an apology… At this point let’s just move on and have these guys ready to go these last two weeks. Anything else we’ll handle after the season.”

On what he thought of Rex Grossman Sunday: “I thought he played well. I was very happy for Rex, being able to get in that rhythm. It was tough for him with us being down early, but he was able to fight back and get the guys going and put us in a position to win.”

On if they told him he was going to be the third QB the last two weeks: “That’s what I heard last week through ESPN and everything else.”
