Futures uncertain for ’06 Rose Bowl QBs

Matt Leinart can’t get away from Vince Young. As if the 2006 Rose Bowl loss wasn’t enough, Young outdueled the quarterback from USC in Leinart’s first NFL start since 2007. Young led the Titans 99 yards on 18 plays in the final 2:37 — converting on three fourth downs — as Tennessee defeated Arizona, 20-17, on Sunday.

These two quarterbacks are no longer the big men on campus and their NFL futures are very much uncertain as both opened the season as backups to the two oldest starting play callers in the NFL not named Brett Favre

After being benched for Kerry Collins last season, Young is 5-0 this year as the Titans have become the first team to win five straight games after starting the season 0-6.

But has this winning run solidified Young’s place as the starting quarterback of the future in Tennessee?

As for Leinart, he may need a change of scenery after winning only seven games in four years in Arizona and watching Kurt Warner lead the Cardinals to a Super Bowl last year.

If Leinart struggles to produce with the top receiver duo in the NFL, how will he do anywhere else?
