Business Journal has revealed the highest-paid CEOs of local public companies (based on 2006 numbers).
And now, the (cash-stuffed) envelope please: In first place by a large margin is Richard Fairbank of Capital One, who took in $37.44 million in 2006. Trailing him were Sprint Nextel’s Gary Forsee, who pocketed $21.3 million; Lawrence Culp of Danaher, who earned $19.61 million; Lockheed Martin’s Robert Stevens, who made $18.6 million; and Sallie Mae’s Thomas Fitzpatrick, who bumped his bank accounts by $16.63 million.
Rounding out the top 10: Freddie Mac’s Richard Syron ($14.73 million); General Dynamics’ Nicholas Chabaja ($14.5 million); Host Hotels’ Christopher Nassetta ($13.12 million); Coventry Health Care’s Dale Wolf ($12.94 million); and Marriott’s J.W. Marriott Jr. ($12.6 million).
We’d bet more than a few of them live in the area’s wealthiest ZIP codes, defined by the Book of Lists as 22067 (Greenway, Va.); 22066 (Great Falls, Va.); 22039 (Fairfax Station, Va.); 20854 (Potomac, Md.); and 22101 (McLean, Va.). You have to go all the way down to No. 18 before a D.C. ZIP pops up — 20057 in Georgetown.
