Candidate is no stranger to publicity stunts

Brian Klock is a guy we’d love to see come to Washington: The Republican congressional candi-

date from Texas is no stranger to publicity stunts.

Earlier  this  month  —  two days  before  he  announced,  no less — Klock declared he’d sub-

sist on nothing but military-style MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat) between now and the March 4 pri-

mary.

But he wasn’t done. On Thursday, Klock, who is a former naval counterintelligence/counterter-

rorism officer , decided  that he wanted to get  into movie criticism,  issuing a  lengthy review,

via  news  release,  of  the  new Tom  Hanks  film,  “Charlie  Wilson’s War .”

Klock,  who  is  running  for the right to face Democrat Nick Lampson  in  the  fall,  gave  it  a

“thumbs up.”

He did criticize the film, however , for its unrealistic depiction of embassy chain of command,

and  its  depictions  of  aircraft shoot-downs  (these  military guys are always so literal).

On second thought, maybe we don’t need any more critics — or publicity hounds — in D.C.
