Where’s Warren?
Washington was deprived of yet another celebrity sighting this weekend, as actor Warren Beatty no-showed at a celebration of the life and service of former senator and 1972 Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern.
Plenty of VIPs did show up for the weekend-long event, however, which honored McGovern’s 85th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his presidential run. Among them: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., investigative reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, former Sen. Gary Hart, former Clinton chief of staff John Podesta and Tom Brokaw.
An event spokeswoman could not be reached to comment on the absence of Beatty, who was on the host committee.
