Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out for the team’s playoff game against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Tagovailoa will not play because he has still not been cleared to return by the league’s concussion protocol.
MIAMI DOLPHINS QUARTERBACK TUA TAGOVAILOA IN CONCUSSION PROTOCOL AGAIN
“As of today, Tua has not been cleared by doctors to resume football activities on the field with his teammates, so because of that and because of the time that he has missed, I can rule him out for Sunday,” McDaniel told reporters Wednesday.
Tagovailoa suffered his second confirmed concussion of the season during a game against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 25, 2022. His first confirmed concussion of the season came during an October game against the Cincinnati Bengals, leading to Tagovailoa appearing to show signs of a “neurological response to head trauma,” according to one expert.
Tagovailoa’s first confirmed concussion came days after the Dolphins played against the Bills, in which he stumbled off the field and appeared to show symptoms of a concussion. He would not be diagnosed with a concussion and finished the game, with the doctor who cleared Tagovailoa being fired days later.

Rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson is expected to start for the Dolphins, with Tagovailoa and backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater recovering from a dislocated finger on his throwing hand.
