If you were to pick three golfers to join your dream foursome, who would you choose? Tiger Woods seems like an obvious selection. But maybe you’re more of a Phil Mickelson fan. Or maybe the unorthodox, fun-loving reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson is more your flavor.
Well, the U.S. Golf Association has put those three together for the first two rounds of next week’s U.S. Open.
They will tee off at 10:33 a.m. on June 14 and 4:29 p.m. the following day.
And on the other side of the draw, the top three ranked players in the world — Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood — will be grouped together.
The pairings announced Thursday have brought even more intrigue and buzz heading into the year’s second major at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
But the pairings in the opening rounds won’t boost the ratings as much as if two of the three are together in the final pairing a week from Sunday.
