, one of the original Charlie’s Angels and the one-time recipient of many “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” designations from magazines, will be at the Westin Embassy Row tonight as part of a five-city tour for Strength in Knowing, a breast cancer awareness campaign.

Smith, who survived breast cancer five years ago, said, “When you have something like that happen to you,” you realize how important it is to put the proper information in women’s hands.

Speaking by phone from her home in Los Angeles, she noted that all three of the original Charlie’s Angels — Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and herself — have had cancer in one form or another, as has “Charlie,” John Forsyth.

Smith is no stranger to D.C.: She filmed the movie “Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy” here, and has twice had dinner at the White House as a guest of Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
