Caps and CSN Ready to launch the season tonight

When last we saw the Washington Caps they were losing a hard fought playoff series in Philadelphia. “Rock the Red,” signs were all over DC and TV and radio ratings were at an all time high.
OK so now what do the reigning Southeast Division Champions do for an encore?
The Capitals are ready to open the 2009-2010 NHL season tonight in Atlanta and their broadcast partners are excited to get started.
Comcast SportsNet will be ready at 7pm with Caps Pregame Live with Al Koken and Joe Reekie doing the honors. Then at 7:30pm the Caps broadcast team – for my money the best in the NHL – handles the action.
Joe Beninati, Craig Laughin in the booth with Lisa Hillary and Koken doing the ice side reporting and the period breaks.
WFED-AM 1500 and on the web at WashingtonCaps.com is where you will hear the team on the radio. Steve Kolbe “The Iceman” will do the play by play along with his analyst partner Ken Sabourin.
The first home game comes against Chicago Saturday night with the raising of the Southeastern Division Championship banner in front of a full house at the “Phone Booth.”
Pregame on CSN at 6:30pm and the puck drops at 7pm.
College football this weekend of interest…
The four star games:
1. Oklahoma-Texas – The Red River Shootout down at the Texas State Fair and played in the Cotton Bowl. A noon start on ABC 2 and ABC 7 should be a good one with the #1 Sooners taking on their long time rivals the Longhorns with winner having the inside track to a spot to Big12 Championship Game.
2. Georgia @ Tennessee – This is a game the Dawgs should win but the Vols bad season could suddenly turn around with a win. The game is on CBS 13, 5 and 9.But expect the Vols to win.
3. LSU @Florida is the primetime game on CBS. – The Gators want some pay back against the Tigers for a last second win last season. Can the Gators stop the Tigers running game? Can the Tigers stop the Gators speed on offense? Tune in at 8pm and see…
4. Penn State @ Wisconsin – If the Lions are to contend for the Big Ten this is must game for them on the road in Madison. 8pm on ESPN
