Week 17 NFL superlatives

Breaking down the best and worst from Week 17 of the NFL: 5. Worst touchdown celebration: Laurent Robinson » After the Cowboys receiver scored to cut the Giants’ lead to 21-14 early in the fourth quarter, Robinson mocked Giants receiver Victor Cruz’s salsa dance celebration. On the following possession, Cruz — who ended with 178 yards and a touchdown vs. Dallas — responded with a 44-yard reception, and New York went on to defeat Dallas and win the NFC East.

4. Best performance in a backup role: Matt Flynn » Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has accomplished a lot in 2011, including setting the single-season record for passer rating (122.5). But he never threw for six touchdown and 480 yards in a game, as Flynn did filling in for the resting MVP candidate in a victory over the Lions.

3. Worst Tebow Time: Tim Tebow ?» Denver had the ball down four points with a minute left. Broncos fans would describe this situation as “Tebow Time.” But the polarizing figure threw an interception on the final drive in a 7-3 loss to the Chiefs. The Broncos still backed into the playoffs, but Tebow went 6-for-22 for 60 yards and an interception Sunday.

2. Best loss for a good cause: Indianapolis Colts » The Colts’ late-season surge almost ruined their opportunity at getting the top pick in the NFL Draft. But the Jaguars ended Indianapolis’ two-game winning streak, assuring the top pick belongs to the Colts. Let the quarterback questions begin.

1. Worst job-saving performance: Tampa Bay Buccaneers » Coach Raheem Morris’ job was already in jeopardy heading into Week 17, but going down 42-7 at halftime in a loss to the Falcons didn’t help. The Bucs ended the season on a 10-game losing streak, and Morris was fired Monday.
