Not OK with Sooners’ fall in polls

Oklahoma entered the season as the top-ranked team in the country, and all the Sooners have done is live up to expectations. They won their first five games by an average of 29.6 points, including victories over then-No. 5 Florida State and a 55-17 drubbing of then-No. 11 Texas on Saturday. Quarterback Landry Jones has thrown for 1,814 yards, fifth most in the country. And receiver Ryan Broy?les is just four receptions shy of the NCAA career record.

But the Sooners don’t play in the SEC and have been penalized for it. Oklahoma lost the top spot to LSU in Week 5 and moved behind Alabama to No. 3 the following week. Saturday’s Red River runaway earned the Sooners just one more first-place vote from the previous week.

If the SEC bias wasn’t apparent before, just look at the AP rankings this season.

And I’m sure SEC envy has played a role in this conference realignment mess.
