That summer classic, Venable LLP’s annual bocce tournament, concluded Thursday with a victory by Robert Smith and Erik Huey from the law firm’s Legislative Practice Group. In a fiercely contested match, they bested Damon Wright of commercial litigation and Jag Singh of corporate law 8-6, 7-9, 8-5.
This year’s tournament, the fourth annual, drew about 160 employees to the tony firm’s rooftop bocce court overlooking the Verizon Center over the course of seven rounds of play.
When Smith was asked what was next for him following the victory, he replied, “I’m going to the L.A. office!”
