No idea. But the five of them came out to the Smithsonian American Art Museum on Thursday night to honor artist John Alexander at a reception held in the new (and impressive) Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard. The museum is featuring a retrospective of the artist’s three-decade career.

Even Alexander was shocked he had so many friends in high places. “I don’t know how I ended up knowing this many celebrities,” he told Yeas & Nays.

Michaels conceded to us that he has more free time on his hands these days to attend such functions.

“The writer’s strike is so frustrating,” he said. “Especiallyfor ‘30 Rock,’ which was just beginning to build some momentum.” (Michaels is executive producer for the NBC comedy series.) Michaels says that cast members of “Saturday Night Live” stay busy by constantly calling each other throughout the day and asking “So, what are you up to?”

The diminutive Simon wandered in and out of the exhibition and the courtyard, and the longtime New Yorker later confessed to Yeas & Nays that — surprise, surprise — he’s not cheering for the odds-on favorite New England Patriots in the upcoming Super Bowl.

“Come on, I’m a New Yorker!” Simon said. “I’ve got to cheer for the Giants. That, and I always root for the underdog.”
