Lidge out a month, Zimmerman to hit next weekend
Brad Lidge went to Philadelphia for treatment of his sports hernia and will probably be out a month according to manager Davey Johnson.
Mark DeRosa (abdominal strain) will be out for two weeks at least, maybe longer, said Johnson.
Drew Storen (elbow surgery) has yet to throw, but is working out.
Ryan Zimmerman is throwing on Tuesday. Is not scheduled to hit until weekend. Doctors have said that hitting will not aggravate the shoulder, only diving while sliding or fielding. “He’s a gamer. He goes all out. Kinda hard to put a governor on that,” Johnson said of trying to alter Zimmerman’s style. “Every time he dives he catches it. I kinda hate to tell him to quit diving.”
Jayson Werth is back in the lineup, hitting fifth after sitting out Sunday with migranes.
