Three comments from the Redskins players-only minicamp:
1. Rookie Aldrick Robinson had a tough time getting to the May minicamp, thanks to a canceled flight and then a missed one. But he arrived in time Tuesday and made at least two nice plays. On one pass, corner Kevin Barnes got his hands on the ball just after Robinson caught it. Robinson yanked it away and kept running. And on a deep ball against linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, Robinson stopped momentarily before the ball arrived. It froze Alexander, Robinson continued and caught the ball.
2. Left tackle Trent Williams has yet to show up to any offseason workouts. Attending these sessions does not mean a player has been working hard. Rookie Maurice Hurt doesn’t appear to have spent a ton of time working out yet he’s been to four of these sessions. However, the knock on Williams in college was that he didn’t work, or study, hard enough. It would be smart to make an appearance here just to stay sharp with his playbook if nothing else.
3. Quarterback John Beck had a friend videotape the workout, something they did not do last time. “You want to go back on tape and see cues, see the things you’re talking about,” Beck said. “[But] first off I want to make sure the thing recorded.” Beck, by the way, probably had his best day throwing the ball. Take it for what it’s worth because there’s no one in a helmet and pads trying to sack him. In other words, it’s June.
