A lighter practice, but still sometimes revealing. And we mean little. Tuesday is a full pads today and we look for a good day to replenish our list of Studs and Duds.
Studs
WR Malcolm Kelly. Really starting to make his presence felt, with improved route-running and consistent hands. He is more noticeable in practice than Devin Thomas. Kelly just looks more fluid. The more he practices, the better he looks.
WR Antwaan Randle El. Having a strong week. He made a nice leaping catch of a downfield, underthrown pass from Jason Campbell. Randle El beat Reed Doughty by about five yards. Randle El stopped, adjusted and outjumped Doughty for the catch.
QB Jason Campbell. Outside of the throw to Randle El, Campbell was largely accurate (he was almost intercepted by Doughty). Made a nice pass down the seam route, right over the linebacker to tight end Chris Cooley. A perfect pass. Campbell made good decisions, going through hisi progressions. Of course, there were a couple plays he would have been leveled on a blitz. But another time he was able to actually step into his throw — what a concept — and delivered a bullet to Cooley.
Duds
SS Reed Doughty. Dropped an interception while running to his right in nine-on-nine work. Was beaten by Randle El in 11-on-11. Doughty has had a good camp, but those plays stuck out today.
CB Byron Westbrook. Got turned around by Santana Moss. Tough to cover, yes; but if Westbrook wants to make the roster he has to show that he can at times.
LB Robert Henson and CB Kevin Barnes. Both were tied to the goalposts this afternoon after practice. Apparently, London Fletcher told Henson, ”Griff wants to see you.” And when he got to Cornelius Griffin, Henson was told, ”Don’t fight it.” They were tied to the posts for 25 minutes until Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels rescued them.
