Wall’s locked in at summer league

NBA lockout or not, it was only a matter of time until Wizards guard John Wall made his area summer debut, but the lack of a Las Vegas summer league certainly helps.

Given his attraction to anything involving two rims and a wooden court — be it Maryland, Howard, Georgetown women or DeMatha — Wall is a basketball version of Field of Dreams: If there’s a game, he will come.

In a Goodman Coalition contest at Spingarn High last weekend, Wall racked up 41 points, a respectable line that will put him on track to follow in the footsteps of Barry Farms regular Kevin Durant, who scored the same amount in the Goodman League opener last month.

Of course, defense isn’t exactly a hallmark of exhibition-style summer league ball, but that doesn’t mean there are no rules. According to AFRO.com, Sacramento forward DeMarcus Cousins, Wall’s former Kentucky teammate, got a technical foul for tossing the ball out of the gym after a traveling call.
