Bad hammy will shelve Fred through weekend
Casualty central » D.C. United’s season is increasingly under threat from an ever-growing injury list. Fred is the latest addition, having picked up a hamstring strain Wednesday against New England that will keep him sidelined through the weekend and beyond. Zach Wells also will miss Saturday with a foot problem that kept him from traveling to the Revolution match.

Rapid turnover » Colorado head coach Fernando Clavijo, who has been on the coaching bubble for the last year, was finally dismissed on Wednesday. He leaves the Rapids with a 40-49-25 overall record, including 1-3-2 in the postseason. Assistant Gary Smith was named interim head coach for the remainder of 2008.
