We had some peace and quiet for a few months. And it was nice, too. But now we return to the Clinton Portis vs. LaVar Arrington feud, part II. This time, Portis — who has also taken on John Riggins and Brian Mitchell in the past — took a shot at Arrington for his relationship with the late Sean Taylor, as well as his involvement at Taylor’s funeral.

We won’t waste more time with our words, here’s what Portis told WJFK 106.7 The Fan:
“I lost a lot of respect for LaVar at that moment, speaking at Sean’s funeral,” Portis said. “LaVar ain’t know Sean like that. For the people who did, seeing how LaVar was going to portray — I remember me and Sean was going to jump LaVar, you know, for throwing pie at Sean’s face his rookie year and trying to haze Sean and be the tough guy. He felt like it was a joke. We didn’t like that [expletive].
“Don’t go and portray. Set out an image like this is your buddy, this is your pal — like you all hung, when you all really didn’t. I don’t think that’s fair, man.”
Our interjection » Sort of hard to say this when the guy in question can’t confirm or deny what you say. Don’t you think? Anyway, Arrington, who called Portis’ comments “low”, responded on his show Thursday:
“Do I know Sean as well as Clinton or [Santana Moss]? No. Nor would I claim that I do. I never portrayed myself as being Sean’s best friend. [We] developed a mutual respect and mutual love for one another … To this day [his wife and Taylor’s former fiancée] are good friends and our daughters play together.”
And this to Portis: “It was inappropriate what you did, but for what it’s worth I still have love for you. … I’ve been to your house on numerous occasions; you’ve been to mine on numerous occasions. … It’s very sad. I just hope at some point you’ll find clarity in whatever it is your feeling and we can sit down as men without this playing out over the airwaves.”
Until next time.
