The Orioles are expected to name Dave Trembley manager for the 2008 season at a news conference today.
Trembley, 55, was promoted to interim manager from bullpen coach on June 18, replacing Sam Perlozzo. At the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail declared Trembley the manager for the remainder of the season.
The story was first reported in The Sun. As of Wednesday?s doubleheader with Texas, the Orioles were 30-24 under Trembley. The Orioles entered Wednesday fourth place in the American League East at 58-65, 16 1/2 games behind first-place Boston.
Trembley never managed in the majors before this season, accumulating a 1369-1413 record in the minors ? including a 285-285 mark in four seasons managing Orioles? affiliates.
