Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning escaped this list in 2006. New Orleans’ Drew Brees has a chance to remove his name in two weeks.
If not, he could forever be known like the following quarterbacks, all Hall of Famers, who never won the Super Bowl:
Recommended Stories
1. Dan Marino » He played in the Super Bowl in only his second season (1984), after throwing 48 touchdown passes. But he only appeared in two other AFC championships, losing both.
2. Dan Fouts » He lost twice in the AFC championship and went 3-4 in the playoffs. He also threw only 12 more touchdowns than interceptions for his career.
3. Sonny Jurgensen » Not only did the beloved ex-Redskin not play in the Super Bowl, he did not appear in a postseason game until he was 40. The one time Washington played in the Super Bowl in Jurgensen’s time here, he was sidelined with an injury.
4. Jim Kelly » The Hall of Fame quarterback had his chances. But the Bills went zero for four in those games. Of course, had Scott Norwood made his 47-yard field goal in their first try, then Kelly would not be on this list.
5. Warren Moon » He was 3-7 in the postseason and never appeared in a championship game. He finished one game over .500 for his career. But he threw 291 touchdown passes.
