Few changes on Navy depth chart

Wev replaces 2011 starter Sperry at cornerback

The new football depth chart released Monday by Navy shows few significant changes after Saturday’s scrimmage in which the offense took better care of the ball and moved it more consistently, especially via the air.

The only new starter is junior Jonathan Wev, who takes over at one corner, replacing David Sperry, last year’s third leading tackler. Wev opened eyes with an impressive interception in a scrimmage nine days ago and has had a strong spring. Sophomore George Jamison, who impressed on Saturday, moves into the depth chart as the No. 3 free safety.

There was much shuffling along the inexperienced offensive line, but the starting unit remains intact – center Bradyn Heap, guards Jake Zukek and Josh Cabral, and tackles Graham Vickers and Andrew Barker. There is some young talent and size on the unit including sophomores Zuzek (6-0, 318),  Heap (6-3, 280), Dale Howard (6-0, 265) and Nathaniel Otto (6-2, 265). The final two are listed No. 2 at center and guard respectively.

Navy’s annual Blue and Gold spring game takes place Saturday at noon at Navy-Mariine Corps Memorial Stadium.
