Beards, Bisesi lead Mustangs to finals

C. Milton Wright?s first-year head coach, Tony Blackburn, and his assistants haven?t shaved since the beginning of the regional playoffs.

The Mustangs (17-8) have been on the road since the postseason began. After Tuesday?s 3-1 win over Eleanor Roosevelt at Prince George?s County Stadium, they return to Harford County for the 4A state title game at Ripken Stadium.

The Mustangs lost six straight games heading into the playoffs.

“What a run these kids have had,” assistant coach Joe Stetka said. “It?s unreal.”

Wright will face Arundel (22-3) at 7:30p.m. Friday, after the Wildcats toppled Quince Orchard, 9-4, Tuesday evening.

Senior pitcher Nick Bisesi led the Mustangs to Tuesday?s semifinal win.

The 6-feet-3 left-hander threw seven innings, striking out 10 and walking just one batter. He also hit a triple that led to a run.

Stetka said Bisesi is available to start Friday?s game.
