Former linebacker Bill Romanowski did indeed talk with his former bosses, Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen, Tuesday. But he said it was not about joining the coaching staff. However, he did come to Ashburn to offer help of a different sort.
Romanowski is the CEO of Nutrition 53, a nutriotinal supplement company. He also helped develop a product called Neuro 1 that he says energizes the brain and helps people as they recover from concussions.

“This is nothing like I’m interviewing for a position,” he said Tuesday night by phone. “It’s not anything offical in any way as far as interviewing for a particular coaching job. It’s not about me getting into coaching or any of that. It’s about is there any way I could help.
“You could almost put it as a former player who thinks the world of Mike Shanahan and would do anything to help. I know Clinton Portis was knocked out this season because of concussions and I happen to know a lot about that subject. So it’s not anything… You look all over the web right now and it’s like Romanowski is interviewing for the strength and conditioning job.”
But, he said — and earlier in the day had tweeted — that he did not interview for that position. He was scheduled to leave town Wednesday morning, provided he could get a flight back to California.
“I have a great relationship with Mike and a lot of respect for him and Bruce Allen,” Romanowski said. “I just wanted to potentially offer some solutions to some real tough issues….I was talking to them about nutrition and about a lot of the experiences I’ve had in all the different places that I’ve played.”
Romanowski played six seasons for Shanahan, and won two Super Bowls with him. He also spent two seasons with Allen when both were with the Oakland Raiders.
“Mark my words when I say the Super Bowl is coming back to Washington,” he said. “Trust me. And it won’t take long.”
