Former Calvert Hall basketball standout Ricky Harris signed to play for the University of Massachusettes this week.
Harris played for Winchendon School in Massachusetts, where he averaged 17 points a game, shooting 43 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line. Harris? coach at Winchendon, Mike Byrnes, also played for the Minutemen.
Hoopscoop.com ranked Harris as the 27th-best fifth-year player this season and the fourth-best unsigned player left.
Harris was a two-time all-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference selection at Calvert Hall.
During his senior year, he averaged 22 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals.
