Girls Performer of the Year
Krystin Lawson
Riverdale Baptist, sophomore
Established herself as state’s top sprinter as she ran the 100 in 11.77 in the Southern Track Classic. Set meet records at six events this spring. MVP of the Southern and XBC Charger events where she won both the 100 and 200.
Boys Performer of the Year
Antwan Farmer
Oxon Hill, senior
Farmer resisted running track until this season, but took to the sport immediately, winning the 300 hurdles (37.9), long jump (22-2) and triple jump (46-2.75), leading Oxon Hill to the 4A state championship.
Coach of the Year
Ricky Williams, Oxon Hill
Williams guided the inexperienced Clippers to their first state championship in 25 years. Oxon Hill also won its second straight Prince George’s County championship and a South Region title.
Boys First Team
ron Anderson
McNamara, senior
Edged DeMatha’s Jaumale Sykes in the 100 and 200 at the WCAC championships. Won the 100 at the T.C. Williams and Morgan State meets. Bound for Hampton.
Aaron Johnson
Oxon Hill, senior
The 6-foot-6 Johnson quit the basketball team in January and dominated the high jump, winning county, region, and state titles in indoor and outdoor seasons, topping out at 6-10.
Terrill McCombs
Eleanor Roosevelt, senior
Triple double. Won the 200 and 400 in the county, region and state championships. Also took the Prince George’s County 100 title and won the 200 and 400 at the Nike Spring Invitational.
Jeremy Samuels
DeMatha, senior
Won the 400 at the WCAC Championships. In the indoor season, anchored the Stags’ 4×400 relay squad that broke the meet record at the Bishop Laughlin Games, where Stags won the team title.
Geoffrey Daley
DeMatha, senior
Won the 110 and 300 hurdles at the WCAC championships. Contributed to 4×400 relay team that ran fourth fastest indoor time in U.S. history in New Balance Invitational. Will run for Kentucky.
Marcus Green
Largo, senior
For the second straight year, Green won county, region and state titles in the discus. Also added the state shot put (51-7.5) to his title resume this spring.
Girls First Team
Audrey Gariepy
Churchill, junior
Led Churchill to a second-place finish in the 4A state championships as she won the high jump and 100 hurdles. Won those events plus the long and triple jumps at the Montgomery County and West Region finals.
Elan Hilaire
Eleanor Roosevelt, sophomore
Transferred from Baltimore’s Park School and rounded out a deep Raiders squad. Won state championships by decisive margins in the 100 (11.99) and 200 (24.48).
Tameka Jameson
Eleanor Roosevelt, junior
Won the 4A state 400 (54.8) by more than two seconds. Took state 500 in the spring. Was key in Raiders’ state championship victories in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays in the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Tasha Stanley
Eleanor Roosevelt, sophomore
Won the state 800. In the winter, Stanley took state and region titles in the 800. Also instrumental in Raiders’ across-the-board success in relays.
Dominique Lockhart
Eleanor Roosevelt, sophomore
Won the state 1,600. Was key in Raiders’ third-place finish at the Penn Relays in the 4×800. Won the 1,600 state indoor. Also All-Examiner in cross-country.
Katelyn Poss
Poolesville, senior
Won 1A state championships in the discus (113-3) and shot (38-3.75), by more than five feet each. Will continue her throwing career at Maryland.
