Former CIA Director George Tenet (proving yet again that he will never turn down an opportunity to hawk his new book) signed copies of “At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA” at a — no joke — clandestine event at The Analysis Corporation’s headquarters in McLean.

Why so secretive? “Mr. Tenet wanted this event to be exclusively for intelligence officers, their families and alumni,” said TAC President and Chief Executive Officer John Brennan (that, and perhaps Tenet didn’t want annoying journalists asking all those intelligence officers what they really think of Tenet’s book). TAC provides support to the government in intelligence operations, analysis, information technology and mission consulting.
Although the signing was only advertised by word of mouth within the CIA, more than 600 current and former members of the intelligence community and their families showed up, which made Tenet sign books nonstop for nearly seven hours. TAC provided most of the books, which were made available to those in attendance for a $20 donation to the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides support and assistance to thechildren and spouses of CIA officers who die in the line of duty. $7,000 was raised at the event for the foundation.
