Camilo Villegas
When Ian Poulter withdrew, it left just three top-10 money winners in the Heritage field — No. 4 Villegas, No. 8 Matt Kuchar and No. 10 Paul Casey. Villegas won the Honda last month and finished 38th at Masters.
Davis Love III
Of his 20 PGA Tour victories, five have come at Hilton Head, including his first in 1987. Love last won in 2003, in a playoff over Woody Austin. The 46-year-old has struggled after opening with a tie for fifth in Hawaii.
Boo Weekley
He was born to wear the tartan jacket. Both of Weekley’s PGA Tour wins came here in back-to-back years. He chipped in on the final two holes in 2007 to edge Ernie Els by a stroke and beat Anthony Kim and Aaron Baddeley by three in 2008.
Brian Gay
The defending champion shot a 20-under 264, winning by a tournament-record 10 strokes, his first of two victories in 2009. Gay had made 16 straight cuts until missing at Bay Hill, then last week at Masters.
John Daly
Sponsor exemptions are drying up for the 43-year-old. He missed the cut at his first three tournaments, but Daly has cashed checks at his last three events as he learns to swing with his new slimmed-down body.
