Annapolis still perfect

Friday night was an exciting evening of girls? basketball in Annapolis, as the Panthers hosted and defeated Severna Park, 40-37. The win puts Annapolis at 4-0, and leaves them with Old Mill (4-0), as the only two Anne Arundel County teams that remain undefeated.

Severna Park and Annapolis were neck and neck the whole game. The Panthers led until the Falcons took the lead with less than five minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Annapolis battled back in the final frame and came away with a three-point win.

Annapolis senior guard Tiara Pratt led all scorers in the game with 15 points while her teammate, junior guard Jessica Reagans, scored 10. For Severna Park?s Brittany Lilley scored 13 and Kathleen Barranco had 11.

Edgewood pushed above .500 with a Friday night victory at Samuel Banks, 73-29. It is the third consecutive win for the Rams, who dropped their first two games of the season. Edgewood junior Michaele Dunn topped all scorers with 30 points, while Jenneya Glover added 12 for the Rams.

At home, McDonogh handled St. John?s Catholic Prep, 78-36. The Eagles got 14 points from Annie Politsch, 13 from Brittany Mallory and 10 from Moriah Young. McDonogh improves to 5-0 overall this season and 4-0 in A Conference play.

McDonogh, St. Frances and Towson Catholic are all undefeated in the A Conference. Towson Catholic went to 6-0 (5-0 in conference) with its 70-27 road win over Mercy. The Owls had eight players score in the game and were led by Maryland-bound Marah Strickland (18) and Tyler Hale (14).

In Carroll County, Century remained undefeated with a road win over Liberty Friday night, 51-24. The Knights got 16 points from Julie Niblock and had 10 coming from Katie Schwarzmann. Century had a combined 16 steals against the Lions.
