John Wall will miss his third straight game for the Wizards after head coach Flip Saunders ruled him out prior to tonight’s visit from Memphis at Verizon Center.
Wall has been listed as day-to-day since he was injured last Saturday at Chicago, but he hasn’t played since.
“I hoping tomorrow,” said Saunders when asked when he realistically expected Wall to return. “He has been day-to-day. Our last game at home, he’d made great progress. He had no swelling in his ankle, but when he went to run, he got some pain kind of on the inside of his ankle. When he’s able to cut without a significant amount of pain, then he’ll be able to go. He’s made improvement every day. Every day, we’ve walked into the office, I have, with the idea that he was going to be able to go. We’ll have to keep on waiting and see.”
Asked if Wall could return to playing status without practice, Saunders said: “Tomorrow, we’re hoping to get him some stuff done, some shooting and some things like that, so he’s at least getting into a rhythm.”
