Dale Hunter shakes things up

The Capitals had an interesting morning skate here at Kettler Iceplex. Players were rotating in and out of line rushes, goalies were coming off the ice almost at the exact same time, no one stayed on the ice for extra work save for Jay Beagle, who is still working his way from the concussion.

So can’t give you exact line combinations. We could see Brooks Laich move to the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Troy Brouwer. Laich cautioned against reading too much In that case Jeff Halpern would slide in at center between Jason Chimera and Joel Ward on the third line. Then you’d have a second line of Marcus Johansson, Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Semin. There are no extra forwards right now so Matt Hendricks, Mathieu Perreault and Mike Knuble – playing in his 1,000th NHL game – would be the fourth line. Wouldn’t put it past Dale Hunter to switch that up. But those make the most sense given what we saw Tuesday morning. Not even sure about the defensemen only because Jeff Schultz came off the ice quickly, too. He’s been a healthy scratch since last playing in the Ottawa game on Dec. 7. That’s four games.
