Best Masters Thursday ever?

Tiger. Freddy. Tom Watson. Lefty.

Is this the greatest Thursday in Masters history? That’s hard to say, because nobody remembers the start of a tournament, only the finish. But consider the leader board and all the intriguing names that are under par.

In addition to the 60-year-old Watson (67), the 50-year-old Fred Couples (66), Phil Mickelson (67), and Tiger (4-under through 17) consider dynamic Anthony Kim (68), fan favorite Ernie Els (71), and even long forgotten 52-year-old Sandy Lyle (69).

There’s another 52-year-old from the Champions Tour, Bernhard Langer (71), and a 16-year-old amateur from Italy, Matteo Manassero (71). There are former Masters champions who haven’t done much lately – Trevor Immelman (69), Zach Johnson (70), and Mike Weir (71). And there are standouts looking for their first major including Lee Westwood (67), Ian Poulter (68), Adam Scott (69), Hunter Mahan (71), and Dustin Johnson (71).

Imagine the ruckus in Korea if Y.E. Yang (67) and K.J. Choi (67) were in the hunt on Sunday.

Then again, with the start Woods is off to, there may be no drama left in the final round.
