End of 3rd: Redskins 6, Cowboys 0
1st Qtr | 2nd Qtr | 3rd Qtr | 4th Qtr
» Hard to believe the Redskins are still leading given the amount of injuries they’ve had today – and this season. Says a lot about the professionalism of the players.
» I don’t know why Dallas hasn’t challenged guard Edwin Williams more. I’m sure that will be the case as the game unfolds in the second half. Need to send some overloads there.
» The Redskins are using eight and sometimes nine men in the box. Also, the linebackers appear to be lining up a little bit closer to the line and beating the Dallas linemen. Early in the game the Cowboys’ line was clearing holes by blocking the linebackers. Hasn’t happened as much lately.
» Not sure if it was supposed to go this way, but on the 29-yard pass to Rock Cartwright, he simply went out for a pass when the Cowboys were blitzing. His man actually was blitzing, but Cartwright stunned him by going out on a route and Campbell hit hi in stride.
» This is the ugly Romo today. On the third down throwaway, looked like he had more time to either find someone or even had room to try and run for the first down. Maybe Rocky McIntosh gets him, but doesn’t he at least have to try? Instead he threw it out of bounds too early.
» Dallas’ wideouts still have not caught a pass. The Cowboys have not run much to get them free across the middle; the Redskins will live all second half with Romo checking down. And they’re playing a very tight eight man box to stop the run. Dallas has zero rhythm offensively.
» The Redskins are making enough plays to control the game. What they’ve also done well in the second half is control the field position battle. Dallas is starting off deep in its own territory every time and that makes a tremendous difference, especially for an offense that can’t find any spark. It’s easier to spread the field and open running lanes when you start beyond your own 30. So Washington’s offense might not be putting up points, but it is making a difference simply by gaining first downs.
» Dallas needed a big play like that to Miles Austin at the end of the third to get going. Will it help?
