Rep. Julia Carson, D-Ind., who died last month, was a titan of Indiana politics and beloved in her hometown of Indianapolis.

Fitting, then, that Congress pay her tribute in what seems to be the only way it knows how these days: with a post office.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Indiana Sens. Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar plan to introduce legislation today that would name a postal station in the city the Julia M. Carson Post Office.

There’s gotta be a better way.
