The Redskins still can’t get their top defensive lineman in camp. But they’ve had no trouble luring just about any available lineman to town.
Washington signed veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday, making him the ninth lineman signed by the team this offseason. Holliday, 34, is coming off a five-sack season in Denver’s 3-4 defense. He also can play defensive tackle in pass situations and is best used in a part-time role.
Holliday started three games for Denver last season and has 144 starts in his career. He was a first-round pick by Green Bay in 1998, recording 32 sacks in his five seasons with the Packers. He also has played with Kansas City and Miami.
The Redskins began organized team activity sessions Monday with disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth still absent.
Meanwhile, Washington signed three more undrafted free agents: receiver/returner Brandon Banks, receiver Shay Hodge and corner Melvin Stephenson.
