The Ravens enter Saturday?s scrimmage with the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in Landover hoping to see a team begin to form.
“The biggest thing is that I want to get a rhythm with the starters and get a good look at the young guys,” head coach Brian Billick said. “And I?m sure they?re the same way. We want to get a good solid look at everyone we have on the roster.”

The Ravens dominated last year?s scrimmage between the two teams, but it did not prove to be an indicator of their future success. The Ravens went 6-10, missing the playoffs, while the Redskins went 10-6 during the regular season, losing in the second round of the NFC playoffs.
The two teams will participate in seven-on-seven offensive drills, 15 plays each for a half hour and then scrimmage with four sets of 10 plays. Both teams will rotate their first and second teams on and off the field with each set.
“We?ll come out in some different fronts. We just added some new guys and we?ll see if we can start to get some chemistry together,” defensive tackle Kelly Gregg said.
Each drive will begin on the 35-yard-line. Offensive teams will be forced to kick field goals on fourth down inside the 30-yard-line. The quarterback will not be live during any play during the scrimmage and cannot be touched.
The Ravens first team is all but settled, except for the punting and safety positions where some interesting battles have taken shape.
Gregg, a mainstay with the Ravens, said that he takes the scrimmage seriously.
“Everyday our D-line coach (Clarence Brooks) challenges us to get better on one thing, work on that one thing and that is what everybody has done,” Gregg said.
Note: Admission is free to the scrimmage, which starts at noon, but parking is $25 per car. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. Ravens fans who got a wristband from the M&T Bank Stadium ticket office will be able to sit in the club and lower level areas of FedEx Field.
