Parkville High School?s boys? lacrosse team won the championship of the Parkville Invitational tournament on Tuesday. The Knights topped Mergenthaler (Mervo) in the tournament title game, 16-0.
Parkville senior midfielder Jesse Newman scored three goals and had two assists, while junior attacker Andrew Pearson had three goals and one assist. Freshman midfielder Matt Swanhart had two goals and five assists, Kris Vallecillo scored twice and had two assists, Chris Cook and Mike Heiland had two goals each, Chris Andrychuk had a goal and an assist and defender Elliott Jacobs tallied a single assist.
Parkville scored all of its goals in the first half. “Most of the goals were assists, so we did a good job of passing the ball,” Parkville coach John Cooper said.
In the tournament?s consolation game, Oakland Mills defeated Western Tech, 6-5, in overtime. Will Wilson had the winning goal for Oakland Mills.
