    The arrival of inmates belonging to the MS-13 and 18 gangs to the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo in Tecoluca, 46 miles southeast of San Salvador, Feb. 25, 2023. The first group of 2,000 suspected gang members in El Salvador has been moved to a huge new prison, the centerpiece of Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele's self-declared war on crime. Tens of thousands of suspected gangsters have been rounded up in the country under a state of emergency following a spike in murders and other violent crimes.
