Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) delivers her state of the state address at the Arizona Capitol in Phoenix on Jan. 9, 2023. Joshua Russell, of Bucyrus, Ohio, was sentenced Monday, March 25, 2024, in federal court in Phoenix, to two and a half years in prison for his conviction for making an interstate threat against then-Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs during the 2022 campaign season. Russell Had acknowledged making death threats in three voicemails left for Hobbs, who at the time was Arizona's chief election officer and now serves as Arizona's governor.
