    About 200 Taiwanese protest outside the de facto U.S. Embassy in Taipei, Taiwan, on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, to demand that the U.S. grant them passports and citizenship. They claimed the 1951 San Francisco Peace Treaty handed Taiwan over for U.S. governance after World War II  ended Japan's 50-year colonization of this island, and that Taiwan has since remained U.S.-controlled territory.
